I am THAT GIRL that you see stopped at red lights, jamming out to the radio like a crazy person, singing to you.

“Wanting Memories”
Song by: Keali’i Reichel
ASL Interpretation by: Jaclyn Reinhart
I’m currently learning American Sign Language. It’s become a pretty integral part of my education and I hope to use it in my future somehow.
Coffeehouse was yesterday- the first I haven’t attended (more like performed in). That was a big deal to me. This song was always a Gemtones tradition, but apparently a new path is being taken with the group and it is no longer the trademark. That’s okay. Things change, life moves on.
But, I was thinking about the song and how I tried to get girls to act while singing it. I always imagined myself sitting in the snow, watching it fall lightly, being surrounded by a cool, fluffy, gorgeous flurry, entirely content.
Then I actually listened to the words, like I should have four years ago.
This song is all about reflection: When I had you in my life, I saw the world as this beautiful place. But, now that you’re gone (by whatever condition you define ‘gone’), I don’t see that beauty anymore. I suppose I only knew that beauty through your eyes. So, I’m thinking about you, hoping that you will flood my memory and I can once again see through your eyes how truly beautiful this world must be. You’ve taught me so much; you’re ingrained within me as we are all ingrained within one another- who I am is numbered in each grain of sand. I’m going to remember you, but instead of lamenting in sorrow, I’ll appreciate my blessings, seeing the beauty that you taught me to see.
Enjoy.
