I am THAT GIRL that you see stopped at red lights, jamming out to the radio like a crazy person, singing to you. jaclynmarie.tumblr.com/ask
purchasing music.
It’s a foreign concept to a lot of people, as I understand it. I understand how easy it is to download music without paying for it. I’ve actually been told by friends, “Wait, you actually buy your music? But, why?”
I’ll tell you why I love purchasing music:
- Sitting down with a brand new CD, plugging in my headphones, reading along with the lyrics.
- The artwork.
- I believe people should be paid for their work.
- If I ever reach a point in my life where I am recording and selling music, I would hope people would pay for it, though I wouldn’t necessarily expect it under the present circumstances.
- I would feel guilty if I didn’t.
- It’s the right thing to do.
I just read on my Dash, “I think people who pay for their music are very noble.” I don’t think paying for music should be an act of nobility, but instead that stealing music should be an act of dishonesty.
A very personal opinion, I’m probably in the minority here. But, I hope all of you who currently refuse to pay consider the advice of Mike Ayley (Bassist, Marianas Trench, on regards to their new album “Ever After”): “Go ahead and steal the music first. If you like it, then you can buy it.”
