pride.

Excuse me for being proud for a minute, but I’m so excited about this:

Last Fall, I took my Freshman writing course (WRT 105) titled, “The Individual and American Culture” with the one and only Michael Fisher. I wrote my final research paper on the Tea Party Movement, making the assertion that it was a politically legitimate movement based on a set of criteria that I established.

I’ve kept in contact with Michael a bit throughout the past year, mostly just letting him know that I’m alive and sharing some of my creative writing.

I receive this email from him today:

Subject: can I use your research paper as a model?
Body:
Hi Jaclyn,

I hope Thanksgiving week finds you well.  We’re at the point in the semester where my WRT 105 students are working on their research papers, and I wonder if I might be able to use your final paper as a model?  Of course I would do so anonymously, but I think it would be helpful for students to see a sample of what a good final research paper looks like.  Let me know if I have your permission.

Thanks!

Michael

This may sound stupid to you, but I was flattered and honored that he would ask to use my paper as a model for his students. This proves to me a number of things, mainly that I’m not the only one who thinks I’m a good writer. It’s reassuring and confidence-boosting, for sure.

I’m really excited about it.
